At Pobre Pelao Eats, we believe everyone deserves delicious, affordable food made with real ingredients true skill. We envision a place where anyone looking for hand-crafted, flavorful, premium sandwiches can come without spending a fortune. In 2024, while perfecting our signature flavors, we eventually honed and perfected our recipes.
In 2025, Pobre Pelao Eats officially opened as a catering company with real experience, real expectations, and a commitment to serving our community the right way and we plan to continue this as we set our sights on transitioning to our first public fast casual restaurant.
Our mission:
To teach, foster and develop a team who delivers wholesome po boy sandwiches and food, made with real culinary technique, Cajun flavor, with an experience that brings people and the community together.
Why We’re Called Pobre Pelao
The name Pobre Pelao is a colloquial Spanish term for Poor Boy. That's right, we are so inspired by our freshly created Po' Boy sandwiches served on our freshly made French Style butter rolls that we made it our name. The Po' Boy an American symbol of simplicity, hard work, community, and affordable delicious food.
At Pobre Pelao Eats, we carry that same spirit — serving the communities with real food, bold flavor, and affordable meals made with care. Our name represents culture, resilience, and the belief that great food should be for everyone, Pobre Pelao Eats is our modern interpretation of that same spirit — combining Southern inspiration, bold Cajun flavors, and urban culture into food that feels authentic, comforting, and made with purpose.
